Get Involved

There are many ways you can be involved with JTNN. Every project and work group gets its strength from the people who participate. We have listed several of our work groups below. If you don’t find something that fits, please feel free to call us at 775-324-7557 and we can provide you with more information about what we are doing in Washoe County. If you’d like to be involved in any of the committees listed below, please click here to send an email to Anne-Elizabeth Northan, Executive Director.

Committees

Environmental Strategies

Comprised of local business leaders, law enforcement personnel, educators and substance abuse professionals, the Environmental Strategies group meets once a month and is busy planning a number of strategies that are designed to limit access to alcohol by underage youth.

Marijuana Committee

JTNN developed a working group to study the issue of marijuana in our community and make recommendations to the governing bodies in Reno, Sparks and Washoe County.  The Marijuana Committee discusses opportunities for educating parents, youth, and community members about the effects of marijuana use and availability on our community.

Nevada Thrives

Youth can make a difference by talking to and training other youth about substance abuse prevention topics such as myths and facts about drugs, how to refuse drugs and alcohol, and the warning signs of substance abuse. High school students are encouraged to apply to become a peer educator in the Nevada Thrives program. Peer educators are trained by prevention professionals and asked to present the information to other students during the school year. If you’d like to participate, or know someone who would contact education@jtnn.org.

All Coalition Meeting

This group consists of area professionals and residents concerned about a variety of drug abuse issues. This quarterly meeting discusses prevention, treatment, education, resource development and other topics.

We invite you to participate with JTNN as much or as little as you choose.
