Dear Jennifer,
September marks the 22nd annual recognition of National Alcohol and Addiction Recovery Month. Millions of Americans lives have been transformed through recovery, and this is a time to recognize that addiction treatment can enable those with a substance abuse disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life. This year's theme is "Recovery Benefits Everyone." In 2009, 4.3 million people ages 12 or older received treatment for substance use disorders according to the 2009 National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
The local 11th Annual Recovery Month Picnic will be held on September 24 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Cottonwood Park at 777 Spice Island Drive in Sparks to recognize local family members, friends, neighbors and colleagues in recovery. Please join us.

Weekly Support Group for Parents of Addicts
|
|
JTNN's parent support group continues to grow in size as new people learn of its existence. The goal of the group is to provide a safe environment for parents of addicts to share their experiences, learn from others and discover resources.
The group is facilitated by a drug and alcohol counselor and meets on Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at JTNN's office - 811 Ryland Street.
We hope to create a similar group for youth who are affected by addicts in the family. If you know of youth who could benefit from such a group, please let us know. We anticipate the youth group will be held at the same time as the parent group.
