Action Boards

Our primary community mobilization efforts consist of two Community Coalition Action Boards or CCABs. One CCAB represents a broad spectrum of prevention providers and the adult community and the other CAB represents youth. Here's how they work...

COMMUNITY COALITION ACTION BOARD

The Community Coalition Advisory Board (CCAB) focuses on agency collaboration and resource sharing. Members include treatment and prevention providers and community residents who identify areas of collective concern as well as gaps that exist for a variety of populations. Once a gap like this is recognized, the community can begin to seek the expansion of prevention or treatment capacity for this population.

As the community comes together through the CCABs, JTNN is able to collect meaningful data on substance abuse related issues in the community. This data provides a timely, realistic picture of substance use in Washoe County and is compiled in a report called a Community Assessment.

The Community Assessment provides the baseline from which JTNN works with the CCABs to develop priorities to address through coalition efforts. This process culminates in a document called the Comprehensive Community Prevention Plan or CCPP. The CCPP becomes the blueprint for prevention efforts in Washoe County. This blueprint helps guide funding decisions, resource allocation, and the choice of prevention programs to address various youth and adults in need.

YOUTH COMMUNITY COALITION ACTION BOARD

The Youth CCAB was created in 2005 and is comprised entirely of middle and high school youth representing several Washoe County schools. The idea for a youth-led group came from a concern that to address youth substance use and addiction youth need to be involved.

The Youth CAB meets bimonthly throughout the school year. Youth CCAB members receive community service credit for participating in the program.  If you'd know of a youth who would like to participate in the Youth CCAB, please call Eric at 324-7557.
